Day 1: Kigali to Nyungwe National Park – Canopy Walk Adventure

06:00 AM: Begin your journey from Kigali with a scenic 6-hour drive to Nyungwe National Park, passing through Rwanda’s picturesque countryside, rolling hills, and vibrant communities. Enjoy the beautiful landscapes along the way as you travel toward the ancient Nyungwe rainforest. Upon arrival in the Nyungwe area, proceed to Munazi Lodge for check-in and settle into your accommodation, followed by a delicious lunch at the lodge.

After lunch, head into Uwinka Visitor Center for the spectacular Canopy Walk. Suspended approximately 70 meters above the forest floor, the 160-meter-long walkway offers breathtaking views of the lush rainforest canopy, surrounded hills, colorful birdlife, and the opportunity to experience Nyungwe from a unique perspective. The canopy walk may be accessed via trails such as Igishigishi, Imbaraga, or Umuyove, depending on park conditions.

After the canopy walk, return to Munazi Lodge to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Savor a delicious dinner at the lodge and unwind after an exciting day of travel and rainforest exploration.

5:00 AM: Begin your day with an early morning departure for chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe National Park. As the rainforest awakens, venture deep into the forest with experienced guides in search of habituated chimpanzee communities. Enjoy the excitement of observing these fascinating primates in their natural habitat while experiencing Nyungwe’s rich biodiversity, including other primates, birds, and unique rainforest vegetation.

After the trekking experience, return to Munazi Lodge for a well-deserved lunch and some time to freshen up and relax. Check out and begin your scenic journey back to Kigali. The approximately 6-hour drive takes you through Rwanda’s beautiful countryside, with an expected arrival in Kigali in the late evening, marking the end of your memorable 2-day Nyungwe National Park Chimpanzee Trekking & Canopy Walk Safari.
