Day 2: Gorilla Trekking and Conservation Insights at Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund

Begin your day with a hearty breakfast at your lodge, fueling up for the adventure ahead. You will then embark on a once-in-a-lifetime mountain gorilla trekking experience in Volcanoes National Park. Guided by experienced trackers, trek through the lush forest to witness the incredible mountain gorillas in their natural habitat, a truly awe-inspiring encounter. After this exhilarating adventure, return to the lodge for a well-deserved lunch, relishing the comfort and tranquility of your surroundings.

In the afternoon, visit the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund. 1. Travel Requirements

A valid passport or ID is required for park entry (for non-residents)
No visa is necessary for travel within Rwanda

2. Health and Safety

Carry sunscreen, a hat, and insect repellent for comfort
Travel insurance is highly recommended
Ensure you are in good physical health as trekking involves hiking through uneven terrain

3. Attire for Gorilla Trekking

Wear long-sleeved shirts and long trousers to protect against scratches
Comfortable, waterproof hiking boots are essential
Bring gloves for grip and protection
A lightweight rain jacket or poncho is advised as weather can change suddenly

Maintain a minimum distance of 7 meters from the gorillas
Speak in low tones and avoid sudden movements

8. Cultural Etiquette

Respect local customs when interacting with community members and park staff
Tipping is appreciated for drivers, guides, and porters but is entirely at your discretion
